Lookup Summit County Jail Inmates

Summit County Jail is the primary county jail for Summit County, Utah, and the local place to look up inmates after an arrest or court commitment. A Summit County Jail inmate lookup starts with the county's current inmate list and then uses state or federal systems only when custody has moved outside ordinary county jail control. The facility holds local arrestees, misdemeanor prisoners, and some state inmates housed through Utah's county-jail contract program.

Summit County Jail Overview

Summit County Jail is operated by the Summit County Sheriff's Office Corrections/Jail Division. Official county pages place jail services at 6300 Justice Center Road in Park City, while general sheriff business may use the nearby 6138 Paintbrush Road address. For inmate tasks, visitation, mail, bail, medical questions, and jail records, the jail-specific Justice Center Road address is the one repeated across the official jail service pages.

The Sheriff's Corrections/Jail Division describes the facility as a full-service jail with integrated medical, dental, kitchen, and Summit County Court access. That court access reduces transports and ties the building closely to the local arrest-to-court process. The jail is not a state prison. It is a county jail that also participates in Utah Department of Corrections county-jail placement for eligible state inmates.

The Summit County Corrections/Jail Division page is the source for the county capacity, custody scope, programs, and jail lieutenant contact.

That county page anchors the facility facts: who operates the jail, who may be held there, and why the building is treated as the central Summit County detention facility.

Summit County Jail Contact

Use the jail number for current custody, facility rules, visitation status, and urgent inmate-service questions. Use the Sheriff's Administrative Division or the county GRAMA portal for records requests that are not immediate custody questions. The research did not locate a public booking-window schedule, so call before traveling for a jail counter task.

Who Summit County Jail Holds

The sheriff states that any person arrested within Summit County is processed and/or incarcerated at Summit County Jail. The facility may hold pre-sentenced arrestees, convicted misdemeanor offenders, and contracted Utah State Prison prisoners. That mix is important. A person may be physically housed in the county jail while still belonging to a different legal category, such as a local pretrial defendant, a misdemeanor sentence, or a state inmate placed through UDC's Inmate Placement Program.

UDC's Inmate Placement Program lists Summit County as a participating county jail. The UDC booklet identifies male state-inmate housing and notes that Summit County was no longer referring state female inmates for housing as of January 27, 2022. For county users, this means the Summit County Jail page can matter for both a local arrest and a state-inmate placement, but sentenced state-prison custody should still be checked through the UDC offender search when the person is under UDC supervision.

Summit County Jail Population

Summit County Jail has two close but distinct capacity figures in the research. The sheriff's page describes capacity for 100 inmates. UDC's 2023 Jail Programs Booklet lists 99 total jail beds, 35 contracted beds, and 35 beds available for housing Corrections inmates. The May 8, 2026 official current inmate list showed 38 total housed inmates, but that was a dated snapshot, not an average daily population.

100 Sheriff page capacity
99 UDC 2023 total beds
35 UDC contracted beds
38 May 8, 2026 housed snapshot

Those figures should not be used as an overcrowding finding. The research did not locate a public Summit County average daily population series, booking total, demographic table, or length-of-stay table. The strongest sourced numbers are the sheriff capacity, UDC bed counts, UDC contract role, and dated inmate-list snapshots.

Summit County Jail Inmate Lookup

A Summit County Jail inmate lookup starts with the official Current Inmate List PDFs. The list is not a modern searchable roster with individual profiles. It is a static PDF list sorted by name. Visible fields include name, booking number, location, time incarcerated, report filters, and total housed inmates. The public PDF does not show charges, mugshots, bond, date of birth, demographics, arresting agency, court date, warrant number, or release date.

  1. Start at the sheriff or jail pages and open the latest official current inmate list from Summit County's DocumentCenter.
  2. Use browser or PDF find for the person's last name, then confirm the full name, booking number, location label, and time incarcerated.
  3. If the person is missing, call Summit County Jail at (435) 615-3723 because the PDF is a dated custody snapshot.
  4. For sentenced state custody, search UDC offender search; for federal or immigration custody, use BOP, USMS, or ICE channels.

Housing labels can include JAIL-GHU, JAIL-BHU, JAIL-CHU, JAIL-EHU, JAIL-FHU, JAIL-BOOK, HOLDING, and PRE BOOK CELL. Treat those as public location labels, not full classification records. The PDF may include people in booking or holding areas as well as people assigned to longer-term pods.

Summit County Jail Visiting

The official visiting page states that, effective March 1, 2026, all on-site visits are suspended until further notice. Communication is routed through HomeWAV for phone, video, email, and text features. Visitors create a free profile, select the facility and inmate, add funds, wait for facility approval, and then wait for the inmate to initiate contact or follow current facility instructions.

The county still publishes a pod schedule, but it must be read with the suspension caveat first. Visitors should confirm current access before traveling. Policy details remain important: two forms of ID are required and one must be photo ID; visits are monitored and recorded; mail and packages are not accepted through visiting; visiting is canceled on county, state, and federal holidays.

Summit County Jail Mail Money

Mail and money rules are local and should be followed exactly. Packages are not accepted unless jail administration authorizes them. Released prisoners cannot send mail to current prisoners for 90 days. Softbound books must come directly from an outside vendor under the publisher-only rule, are processed through the jail library, and are donated to the jail library unless other arrangements are made through administration.

Summit County Jail Medical Programs

Summit County Jail provides medical, dental, and mental-health services to prisoners. The research documents weekly medical clinics, a full-time registered nurse, non-emergency requests through the housing kiosk, and medication screening through the jail medical provider. Current prescriptions may be brought by family, but jail staff dispense only medications approved through the provider. Medical co-pays for services and medications may be charged to prisoner accounts.

The facility's program detail is stronger than many county jails. UDC's 2023 Jail Programs Booklet lists 34 inmate jobs, including greenhouse, janitor, kitchen, laundry, librarian, road crew, and translator roles. Programs include high-school completion through Park City School District or Utah high school completion diploma, anger, communication, money management, USU-linked finance and family programs, Fit to Recover, Inside Out Dad, Moral Reconation Therapy, life skills, AA, NA, and faith-based services.

Work crews are also locally specific. The UDC booklet ties outside work to greenhouse and gardening tasks, snow removal for county properties and elderly or disabled residents, county building maintenance, Forest Service grounds, state park grounds, UDOT property, recycling, rodeos, and county fair support. The same source estimated annual community savings from inside and outside work programs.

Summit County Jail Records

For records beyond the current inmate PDF, use the Summit County GRAMA path through NextRequest or the Sheriff's Administrative Division. GRAMA does not make every jail record public. It supplies the request process while allowing private, protected, controlled, restricted, juvenile, sealed, medical, investigative, and safety-sensitive records to be withheld or redacted.

The jail is in the Park City and Quinn's Junction area near the Justice Center campus. From central Park City, the route generally follows UT-248/Kearns Boulevard east toward the Justice Center area. From I-80 and Kimball Junction, drivers use US-40 toward Park City and the UT-248/Park City exit area. Official sources did not publish visitor parking rates or a detailed lot map, so visitors should confirm the current entrance and access rules before leaving.

Note: Confirm current custody, visitation status, and the correct public entrance with Summit County Jail before traveling.
